We divorced and then remarried

A question that I am often asked is – do people often go through the pain of divorce only to discover that they have made a mistake and then decide to remarry?

The answer to that is that yes this occasionally happens. Statistically second marriages are successful in over 72% of cases.

This is because people realise that the grass is not so much greener on the other side once they are divorced. Whilst many factors influence a decision to remarry a former spouse, the fact that it happens is not necessarily surprising given that the bond of shared experience can sometimes be too strong to break.

If you find yourself in this position you need to be aware of your legal position by seeking help from a divorce solicitor on reconciliation. It is particularly important where you do not wish to remarry because there are serious inheritance implications particularly if the divorce provided a clean break.

It may also be necessary to seek help from a divorce solicitor to have a pre-nuptial agreement drawn up or alternatively a cohabitation agreement.
