Pensions on Divorce

Pension Settlement Solicitor Cheshire, Manchester, Altrincham, Lymm, Knutsford & Wilmslow

Pensions on divorce are an asset that must be considered in the overall divorce/ financial settlement. Pensions can be difficult to understand. After the family home, the pensions are often the most valuable asset.

How will my pension be split?

Pensions are best viewed as an income stream for the future and expert knowledge is often required to consider the income the pensions are likely produce in the future and how they should be divided to achieve true equality.  There are 3 options for sharing a pension, which include:

  • Pension sharing
  • Pension attachment (formerly known as earmarking)
  • Pension offsetting

A report may be required in order to consider the option which appropriately fits your particular circumstances. I have access to specialist pension experts and actuaries.
